There were whispers of the Samsung Epic 4G receiving an Android 2.3 Gingerbread update this July, and it is nice to see such rumors getting more substantial backing with word from Sprint. Yes, Sprint's site has actually listed the Epic 4G to ship with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, never mind that existing Epic 4G owners already know that they have long been living with Gingerbread's predecessor, the Android 2.2 Froyo.
This might not be a 100% confirmation as we have to take into account human error when posting that ad, as a typo cannot be ruled out of the question. Still, we don't think that Sprint might actually make such a blunder, so it could be a not-so-subtle hint for subscribers that Android 2.3 Gingerbread is all but confirmed. Anyone stoked yet?
